Door Panel Restoration for the Porsche 928

Door panels can be broken down into 3 parts:

  • The panel itself:
    Main molded panel, with the top part covered in leather and the bottom part usually covered in Silverknit carpet.

  • The armrest assembly:
    A very intricate part when properly done in leather. Includes the AC door vents, the door handle and the flip-up armrest that also functions as the door pocket lid.

  • The insert:
    Smaller, middle panel, usually covered in leather. This panel covers the access to the door cavity.

Here are a few detail pictures of one of my armrests. Please note the consistency of the French seams around the tight radius corners.

Padded Door Armrests

This is a departure from factory. I added some much needed padding to the armrest and trimmed the whole thing with a matching piping.
