| Door Panel Restoration for the Porsche 928 Door panels can be broken down into 3 parts:
- The panel itself:
Main molded panel, with the top part covered in leather and the bottom part usually covered in Silverknit carpet.
- The armrest assembly:
A very intricate part when properly done in leather. Includes the AC door vents, the door handle and the flip-up armrest that also functions as the door pocket lid.
- The insert:
Smaller, middle panel, usually covered in leather. This panel covers the access to the door cavity.
Here are a few detail pictures of one of my armrests. Please note the consistency of the French seams around the tight radius corners.

This is a departure from factory. I
added some much needed padding to the armrest and trimmed the
whole thing with a matching piping.
These padded armrests carry a French
seam detail instead of pipings:
