Door Panel Restoration for the Porsche 928 Door panels can be broken down into 3 parts: The panel itself: Main molded panel, with the top part covered in leather and the bottom part usually covered in Silverknit carpet. The armrest assembly: A very intricate part when properly done in leather. Includes the AC door vents, the door handle and the flip-up armrest that also functions as the door pocket lid. The insert: Smaller, middle panel, usually covered in leather. This panel covers the access to the door cavity. Here are a few detail pictures of one of my armrests. Please note the consistency of the French seams around the tight radius corners.   Door handle in the "tailored" style. French seamed and padded. Padded Door Armrests This is a departure from factory. I added some much needed padding to the armrest and trimmed the whole thing with a matching piping.   These padded armrests carry a French seam detail instead of pipings:   Door Insert Panels
