Porsche 928 Backrest Leather Installation Guide Part 2 

In order to secure the new leather to the seat frame, you need to transfer the listing wires from your old cover to the new.

The picture above shows the 2 wires that will be used, with the bend towards the headrest.

If you lift the flap on the inside edge of each bolster, you will see what is called a "listing", which is a sewn fold in the leather, created to receive the wires.

• Start by feeding the wires from the bottom, pushing it toward the headrest. It usually helps to flatten the loop at the leading end of the wire with pliers.
• Once you reach the headrest, go under the French seam and feed the wire into the headrest listing:

• The wires from both sides will cross in the headrest listing. Both wires should be pushed far enough so that the loop at the trailing end of the wire as reached the leather.

• Above, you can see hog rings and their pliers. These will be used to secure the cover to the seat frame.
• The first step is to secure the two corners of the headrest (red arrows below). Do not put any hog rings in the space between the blue arrows

• You secure each corner, with one hog ring, tying the listing wire to the large cord support of the frame.

• Below is what it should look like:

• Now let's move to the bolsters themselves. Each side bolster will be secure with 6 hog rings. Each listing already has cutouts in the leather to secure it to the frame:

• Starting from the headrest corner already secured, the first 2 spots are tied to the frame wires:

• The next 3 are usually tied to the main support cord. The last one usually serves to secure the end of the wire. I like to zip tie the loop at the end of the wire to the frame. 

• All that is left to do, is to secure the back flaps.
